Grief and Loss

Grief and loss can be painful, challenging, and overwhelming.

This can be a time of many conflicting emotions…

Wondering how you are ever going to survive this…?

Questioning if you’ll ever be able to move on?

Feeling overwhelmed by your thoughts and emotions?

We’re often unprepared to cope with this change in our life, but therapy can help.

Facilitating healthy passage through the grief process…

There is the potential to get trapped in grief if we don’t learn to embrace the loss and integrate it into our lives.

Therapy help you do this… so you can move more easily, gradually, and naturally through the grief process.

By gently allowing acceptance to emerge, we can allow ourselves to be comforted by our memories… and continue to live and grow healthier day by day.

How we’ll take on the tasks of grief…

According to William Worden, there are four main tasks of grief:

  • To accept the reality of the loss,
  • To work through the pain of the grief,
  • To adjust to an environment in which the deceased is missing, and
  • To find an enduring connection with the deceased while embarking on a new life.

My approach as a therapist is to “hold space” with compassion and acceptance as you move through these tasks at your own pace.

I realize that everyone’s grief is unique, and different coping techniques and approaches will work differently with each person. So, my approach will always be tailored to your needs and personality.
